Red Berenson's Michigan Hockey Camp
On - Ice Activities

Michigan Hockey Camps emphasize three basic areas of learning:
  • Power skating
  • Fundamental Skills (puck-handling, passing, and shooting)
  • Team Play (offense and defense)

Power Skating

Power skating is an asset which must be mastered by good players at any level. Our program teaches skating skills (starts, stops, turning, cross-overs, skating backwards, etc.) Campers receive 1 hour of instruction daily. Adding music and creative drills make these sessions both enjoyable and rewarding.

Fundamental Skills

Fundamental Skills are the focus of each session. One or more of (a) puck handling, (b) passing, and (c) shooting are areas of needed improvement in almost every player. Structured practice and concentration in these skills can bring impressive results in young players (and teams).

Team Play

Hockey is a team game and each player must learn to play within the team's systems with-and-without-the puck, including: forechecking, backchecking, 3-on-2, 2-on-2, 2-on-1, and 1-on-1 rushes, as well as other specific game situations.
